A married couple from Delaware in the US were arrested this week after they were outted for running a home game with a twist. In what had started as a private game, the operation soon escalated to a casino enterprise, with Laurie Anderson – a professional stripper – dealing some of the games topless.
William Shane Anderson and his wife Laurie were both arrested, along with Matthew Balotin, charged with with advancing gambling, possesion of gambling devices, providing premises for gambling, conspiracy, and three counts of child endangerment.
After Anderson lost his job, he decided to try and make some extra income from his home poker game, setting games several times a week and with some sizeable buy-ins. Mrs Anderson played waitress and dealer, often topless. Balotin was hired as an additional dealer, and they even employed a bouncer to work on the door.
Police were called in after neighbours complained about late-night noise and problems with parking. Child-endangerment charges were also pressed due to children being in the house at the time, although in other rooms.
One anonymous gambler from the game said, 'They're (the police) just angry because no taxes were collected. Nobody was harmed by Laurie's boobs, and some of us were the better for it.'
