Poker Den – the Big Game Returns

Poker Den – the Big Game Returns
Thursday, 14 August 2008

Next month will see the pros return to East London to play in a 36-hour long cash poker game, all filmed for television. The PartyPoker.com Poker Den — the Big Game will take place at London’s Poker Den and marks the third time the show has run.

Players expected to take part in the game include some of the biggest names in poker, and should make for some entertaining viewing. Dave Ulliott, Jamie Gold, Robert Williamson III, Roland De Wolfe, Neil Channing, Andrew Feldman, Brain Townsend, Kirk Morrison, Phil Laak, Antonio Esfandiari, Jon Kalmar, Mike “The Mouth” Matusow, and others will all line up in a bid to take Phil Hellmuth’s money. They might even win some from each other, too. We’re just kidding, Phil.

With that line up, the action is sure to be fast and loose (apart from Mr. Hellmuth, of course), and Eddie Hearn, head of online gaming at Matchroom Sport, thinks it will be another bumper show. “The Poker Den has come such a long way since we started it back in the summer of 2005,” he said. “The Big Game has been such a huge success, and the two series so far have attracted the best players in the world. We have seen some great action, fantastic banter between the players, and some berating between players.”

The show will be filmed between 30th September and 1st October, and will be shown on the UK’s Channel 5 in 2009. Jessie May will once again be the voice of the show, as he will be joined by various guests over the course of proceedings to help explain just how cold the deck will most likely be for Hellmuth, who does seem to get his fair share of bad luck on televised cash games.
