Jennifer Harman loves animals, and has put this love to work, organising a charity poker event for the Nevada Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to animals (SPCA). The tournament is being held at Caesars Las Vegas, and will kick off tomorrow at noon.
Many of poker’s big cats are expected to be there, including Dave ‘chip’ Reese, Todd Brunson, JC Tran, Antonio Esfandiari, Liz Lieu, as well as a few celebrity strays. Jennifer Tilley, a local comedian known as Carrot Top, an Olympic snowboard medallist and a few members of Motley Crew are reputed to have bought-in already. Lots of players are in town for the $25,000 World Poker Tour Championship which will start the following day.
The event is a $200 rebuy with a $200 add-on No Limit Texas Hold’em game, with preregistration through the Nevada SPCA website at nevadaspca.org. Registration closes at 11.59pm today. The prize for this event is not to be sniffed at, as the winner will receive a $10,000 seat to the WSOP, but the shelter are the real winners, taking all the rest.
