Paradigm Poker Consultants and former World Series of Poker Tournament Director Steve Morrow have announced the launch of ThePokerAttic.com, a low-cost online auction site devoted to poker and its birthplace, New Orleans, which allows users to donate to a post-Katrina recovery fund.
The site will be managed by Morrow who is himself a Katrina survivor. Morrow has seeded the auction site with personal memorabilia from his collection, including his never-worn PokerStars' Poker Room Manager's leather-sleeved Letterman's Jacket with a starting bid of $1 with no reserve. Proceeds from the sale of these items will be donated to the New Orleans Musicians Hurricane Relief Fund.
Users can gain 'preferred seller' status at ThePokerAttic.com and pay no auction fees whatsoever through to the end of 2007 by activating one auction before September 1, 2006 and then donating $45 or more to The New Orleans Musicians Hurricane Relief Fund. The charity will even send the seller a premium 'ReNew Orleans' T-shirt for their donation.
Whilst the site is orientated towards poker, there are only a few restrictions on what can be sold and any registered member may suggest a new category for items they would like to sell.
