Wednesday, 15 July 2009

England may have performed a Houdiniesque escape act in Cardiff over the weekend but can our poker playing cricketers do any better? The 1st Test in the 2009 Poker Ashes will be shown tonight at 10.30pm on Sky Sports 1 with Shane Warne and Darren Gough leading the two sides.

The former Yorkshire fast bowler will play alongside Gladstone Small, Min Patel, Peter Such, Rob Key, Dimitri Mascheranas and online qualifiers Glenn Curran and Steve Falzon. The Aussie line up includes Damien Martyn and two players from the Tony G school of sledging, Jeff Thomson and Dean Jones.

The former Strictly Come Dancing champion Darren Gough said, “We’ve only got one thing on our minds and that’s victory in the inaugural 888.com Poker Ashes. We’ve got home advantage and the best poker players in English cricket flying the flag. It’s going to be a long flight home for Shane and co after a cricket/poker double this summer.”

The five match series is on tonight and tomorrow on Sky Sports 1 at 10.30pm then at 10pm on Sky Sports 2 on Friday, 10pm on Sky Sports 1 on Saturday with the final match on Sunday at 10pm on Sky Sports 2.
