This month will see three new matches of NBC network’s popular Poker After Dark program air in America, with the first beginning this week.
Poker After Dark features some of the game’s top professionals battling it out in a six-handed, $20,000 buy-in tournament each week. Airing every night at 2:00 am, except Sunday, the first five episodes of the week show the action while the championship airs on the Friday. The Saturday episode for the American terrestrial television giant is the director’s cut and recaps the tournament and features that week’s winner discussing play.
Ten more episodes for the three matches were filmed at Las Vegas’ South Point Hotel last month with the first being shown this week. This opening match is the Champions Week and, like last season, features six players who have each previously won the World Series of Poker Main Event.
Returning to the felt to participate in this clash are Doyle Brunson, Jamie Gold and Johnny Chan. Chan bested Brunson, Gold, Chris Ferguson, Chris Moneymaker and Carlos Mortensen in winning this match for the program’s opening season.
In addition, Chan will also have to contend with three new formidable opponents in World Champions Huck Seed, Greg Raymer and Joseph Hachem.
In addition to television, each of the match’s six segments can also be viewed daily on www.nbcsports.com/poker.
