Poker After Dark Big Heat begins with $600,000 prize

Tuesday, 4 January 2011

US sports channel NBC have begun the seventh season of popular single-table tournament show Poker After Dark, kicking things off with a bang and televising a $100,000 buy-in, winner-take-all tournament titled Big Heat. The winner of the six-handed tournament will go home with a cool $600,000 for their trouble.

John Juanda, Erick Lindgren and Huck Seed will face off against Phil Ivey and Tom “durrrr” Dwan with Phil Galfond making his inaugural Poker After Dark appearance. Ivey and Juanda have two previous wins on the show but only in the standard $20,000 buy-in events; should durrrr, Galfond, Lindgren or Seed win then they will eclipse the winnings record on the show.

Fortunately for us on the better side of the Atlantic, NBC.com archive the footage for you to watch online, meaning you don’t have to miss out on the high stakes action just because you live in Europe. Also watch out for later in the season when a huge $300/$600 Omaha cash game will dominate proceedings.
