The fourth annual PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA) is to start today, January 4, at the renowned Paradise Island Atlantis Resort and Casino in the Bahamas.
Amateur and pro poker players will rub shoulders, united by their desire to compete for a share of the whopping estimated $5 million prize pool. PokerStars says it predicts nearly 750 entrants will attend the 2007 event, with big-name pros Joe Hachem, Chris Moneymaker, Barry Greenstein, Humberto Brenes, and Tom McEvoy all expect to attend, alongside a number of celebrity guests.
“The PokerStars Caribbean Adventure is the perfect combination of high-calibre poker and a tropical paradise,” said current PCA champion Steve Paul Ambrose. “I cannot imagine a more scenic and exotic environment to host a world class poker tournament.”
As well as the PCA, the Moneymaker Millionaire will also be staged in the Caribbean this weekend. The tourney is allegedly the largest free poker tournament in history and is inspired by Chris Moneymaker himself, the 2003 WSOP champion who won $2.5 million through a $39 satellite entry.
