After getting himself plenty of recent public attention for visiting a strip club, Prince Harry could do well to focus on what his army pals are saying is his new love – poker. The just-graduated army officer is said to have spent a large amount of time during his 18 months at Sandhurst Military Academy playing Texas Hold’em, going from a complete novice to seasoned hand in a matter of months. Thankfully for Harry though, this is not another likely banana skin for him to trip up on in public (see dressing up as a Nazi and smoking marijuana for those) as strict army rules prevent any gambling for money.
Harry is said to have used the game to get in with his new friends and make them see that he’s just one of the lads as opposed to an English royal with a massive fortune and a lack of any knowledge of the real world. The gamble seems to have paid off, although it is said that some of his colleagues fancy getting him round a real table and playing for real cash, largely so they can have some of his fortune to supplement their pay packets.
Knowing Harry, this is a challenge he’ll fancy and it’s certainly going to keep poker in the public imagination in the coming years.
