Players Pile Up in Prague

Players Pile Up in Prague

Wednesday, 5 December 2012

WPT Prague continued to grow yesterday as the previous day’s total entrants was beaten by a healthy margin. After welcoming 115 players on Day 1A, the Kings Casino opened the doors to a further 179 eager grinders on Day 1B.

While re-entries were allowed the majority of the field was made up of fresh players all looking to get their hands on what’s shaping up to be a bumper prizepool.

One player who did return, however, was former World Champion, Jonathan Duhamel. The Canadian couldn’t get through Day 1A with his stack intact, but on his second attempt he managed to skip through the field and finish the session with 60,000 chips.

Other famous faces making it through their opening day, included: Kara Scott, Jason Mercier, Eugene Katchalov and Elio Fox. However, for all their efforts they were all trailing Mikhail Mazunin.

The Russian powerhouse managed to smash his way through the field to end the days with 203,600 chips, which put him well ahead of Alexander Staengle who ended in second place with 157,500.

Day 1C will begin later today and is expected to welcome a host of re-entries as the pros look to take their final shot at making it through to Day 2 and close to the money.
