The World Snooker Championship is in full swing in Sheffield at the moment and some of the green baize's finest exponents are set to test their skills on the felt next week too.

The city's Grosvenor Casino will host a special two-day tournament on 5 and 6 May to coincide with the snooker final at the Crucible. The buy-in is £500+50 with some big prizes to be won.

Amongst the big names from the snooker world who'll be playing is multiple World Champion Steve Davis. "I'm working for the BBC at the Crucible but as soon as I get a chance I'll be at the Grosvenor to see what's happening in the other green baize game and hopefully play a few hands. It's going to be a lot of fun and the great thing about poker is that anyone can win, given a bit of luck and a steady hand."

Joining 'the nugget' at the Grosvenor will be World Snooker head honcho Barry Hearn who said, "If you fancy yourself as a poker player then get involved because this is event is going to set the pulses racing. It's high stakes and it's a chance to make a huge profit. Most importantly, a large part of the proceeds are going to Bluebell Wood which is a fantastic cause."
