Full Tilt Poker’s Phil Ivey has proven once again why he is rightly considered to be one of the premier poker players in the world by winning the Monte Carlo Millions tournament at the historic Casino De Monte Carlo. Ivey overcame an awe-inspiring, invite-only field of 111 players, defeating Paul Jackson at the final table after only twenty minutes of heads-up play. For his Herculean efforts this week on the tables of one of the oldest and most glamorous casinos in the world, Ivey collects $1 Million and the Championship Vase.
Ivey’s win marks the sixth final table appearance of the year for the five-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner, including a victory at the 2005 World Series of Poker $5,000 Pot-Limit Omaha tournament. In total, Ivey has taken home more than $2.7 Million in tournament winnings for the year.
“Phil simply continues to impress,” said fellow Team Full Tilt member Howard Lederer. “To turn in these kinds of performances while playing a limited tournament schedule is simply amazing and proves again why Phil is the best all-around player in poker today.'
