A film on the career and lifestyle of ten time WSOP bracelet winner Phil Hellmuth is apparently in the pipeline. According to Production Weekly, Hayden Christensen is being lined up to play the poker brat following up his role as Darth Vader in the Star Wars series. Working titles for the film include 'The Madison Kid' and 'Poker Brat.'
The film is scripted by Hellmuth’s pal Bob Soderstrom and produced by LA-based Beacon Pictures. Filming is reportedly scheduled to begin next spring.
Hellmuth's meteoric rise in the pokersphere makes for a good story. Having abandoned his college education in order to chase his dreams of becoming a poker pro, he became the youngest ever WSOP Main Event champ in 1989 at the tender age of 24.
Filming is likely to take place in Winnipeg, Canada, but Hellmuth has allegedly been trying to raise additional funding to make it possible for the action to take place in his hometown.
