Phil Galfond: it’s time for a change

Tuesday, 17 January 2012

Most of anything that Phil Galfond (better known as 'Jman28' on Two Plus Two, 'OMGCLAYAIKEN' on Full Tilt Poker and 'MrSweets28' on PokerStars) does attracts attention but his latest blog has got the online poker world talking.

Galfond, who is considered to be one of the best Omaha players in the world and posts some not-too-shabby results at hold’em, fielded some suggestions for improving the online game.

These included combatting overt preying on recreational players and bumhunting.

“As edges (and the regulars’ bankrolls, it seems) have decreased, extra edge-seeking has grown and grown," wrote Galfond.

"In my opinion, it’s now past a reasonable level. It’s gotten to the point where I think the overall quality of the games is suffering.”

He shared his thoughts on HUDs and tracking sites, the heads-up tables, players sitting out when a 'fish' leaves the game and screen name changes.

It’s quite a lengthy read but gives some excellent food for thought and you can find the full text here.
