Peter Eastgate sells 2008 WSOP bracelet for UNICEF

Peter Eastgate won the 2008 WSOP Main Event and went on a highly successful run in smaller tournaments and televised games before announcing his retirement from professional poker at the age of just 23, having achieved financial security.

Now he is selling his winner’s bracelet on eBay, but he’s not ‘doing a TJ’ – the proceeds from the sale will go to charity. The starting bid is $16,000 on the auction site the last time we checked – we’re going to sneak in with a last minute $16,001 bid and nab it.

"Of course, I am still extremely proud of my title to this day,” Eastgate said to a Danish magazine. “But the bracelet itself, I am never wearing, since I really don’t wear any jewelry. So I thought that by giving away the bracelet and watches, a lot more people will hopefully be able to benefit from the items."

The bracelet itself is worth significant money; cast in 18-carat white gold and studded with 291 individual diamonds. It is made by the Swiss watchmakers Corum.
