Peru wins World Cup of Poker at 2012 PCA

While the 2012 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure belonged to Jonathan Duhamel with a $5,000 side event victory and two High Roller final tables netting him over $1.2m, it is not Quebec celebrating now that the Bahama series is over.

Peru has won the World Cup of Poker VIII, taking the title from the Netherlands and Japan after a strong finish that netted the team $90,000.


After six rounds hosted over two days featuring full ring, six-max and heads-up play, the South American team of five triumphed to take home the trophy and cash.


Luis Felipe Villaran, Daniel Banacco, Renato Lezama, Renso Renfigo and team captain Martin Sansour beat France 4-1 in the heads-up final with Banacco netting the victory to push them ahead of the Netherlands at the eleventh hour.


The standings for the top five were as follows:


1. Peru – 267 points ($90,000)


2. Netherlands – 251 points ($65,000)


3. Japan – 247 points ($45,000)


4. Germany – 244 points ($30,000)


5. Tajikistan – 225 points ($20,000)
