The PartyPoker World Open in London is all set to get underway on 27 April 2007 with a sell-out 72 player capacity.
The televised tourney features a $7,000 buy-in with a total prize pool in excess of $500,000 and is expected to lure some big-name poker pros, including Roland De Wolfe, Tony G, Vicky Coren, Dave 'The Devilfish' Ulliott and, for the first time in the tourney’s history, all four members of the Hendon Mob. The expected payout for the winner is $200,000.
Last year's winner was Pippa Flanders, a well respected pro from Preston, UK. Pippa inadvertently booked a luxury cruise later this month and will therefore be unable to defend her title. In her place, however, is her 23-year-old daughter Charlotte.
'The field is the strongest in the tournament's history and we're very pleased,” commented a PartyPoker spokesman. “It's a shame that Pippa Flanders isn't back to defend her crown but Charlotte is sure to defend the title valiantly and fair well in such prestigious company.'
