PartyPoker Premier League IV begins tomorrow

PartyPoker Premier League IV begins tomorrow

Wednesday, 10 February 2010

Some of the six-seater televised tournaments that you see on Channel 5 are tosh – not so the PartyPoker Premier League. The fourth incarnation of this 12-man, $100,000 buy-in tournament is set to be the best yet.

Unfortunately, 10-time bracelet-winner Doyle Brunson has pulled out of the tournament due to dental surgery. One man’s misfortune is another man’s good luck though as Phil Laak has stepped in.

The Unabomber was excited at the prospect of locking horns with the likes of Tony G, Phil Hellmuth and of course Luke “_fullflush_” Schwartz, saying, “This is the most money I have ever wagered against the toughest field I have ever faced. Collectively my opponents have over $45 million in tournament winnings. This will be the best ride ever. Full stop."

Laak also had plenty to say about his opponents adding, "I hear Tony G has a bike now. I hope he doesn't send me off on it! As for Full Flush there will be free sandwiches. Negreanu and Hellmuth...ranked two and four on the all time money list. Truly amazing. Vanessa Rousso is always thinking while Roland de Wolfe is full of sharp wit and is amazingly entertaining, always.”

The full line up will see Phil Hellmuth, Daniel Negreanu, Tony G, defending Premier League champion JC Tran, David Benyamine, Luke Schwarz, Vanessa Rousso and current WCoOP champion Yevgeniy Timoshenko gracing the felt.

The final spots will be filled by PartyPoker qualifiers – sixteen finalists from the site are in Las Vegas, where the series is to be filmed, as we speak. They are competing not only for a coveted shot at the $1.5m prizepool on offer in the league but also for a lucrative $100,000 sponsorship deal with PartyPoker.
