PartyPoker Premier League III Day 2

PartyPoker Premier League III Day 2

Thursday, 27 November 2008

Phil Hellmuth and current WSOP champ Peter Eastgate likely haven’t been enjoying this season of PartyPoker’s league tournament. Both wound up with not-too-impressive scores of zero in their respective heats. If the two want a slice of PartyPoker’s $1.25m pie then they’ll need to do some good work against 12 of the world’s best players.

At the opposite end of the run-good spectrum, JC Tran has been having a whale of a time, winning his second successive heat in the series. In addition, Season I champion Juha Helppi also won a heat. The battle of the Scandis between the Finn and Norwegian WSOPE Main Event winner Annette Obrestad played out right down to heads-up. Eventually the aggressive Obrestad 3-bet all-in with J4o over Helppi’s raise with KQ. He called and it held up to take down the pot.

JC Tran got to heads-up with EPT London winner Vicky Coren, with the English rose lagging – she had to try and overcome a 4-1 chip deficit. In the eventual hand Tran got his money in bad with A6o vs her KK but evidently the cheering of WSOP final tabler David 'Chino' Rheem spurred on the dealer to flop an ace and ship him the 10 points.
