Online gambling firm PartyGaming has announced that it is no longer offering its services to customers in Turkey. In a statement to the London Stock Exchange, PartyPoker's owner said that it would be removing the service in light of the recent legislation which prohibited certain forms of online gaming from being offered by any unauthorised domestic or foreign company.
The move mirrors that of gaming firm Bwin and the money transfer firm NETeller, who have both recently withdrawn from the Turkish market, citing discrepancies in the government’s agenda to protect itself from outside operators. The legislation is being monitored by the European Union, who is reported to believe that the laws are a severe breach of the existing agreement between the two.
PartyGaming added that revenue from customers in Turkey does not represent a significant amount of its revenue.
