PaddyPower, Ireland’s largest bookmaker, has launched the outright betting market on the prestigious World Poker Tour Los Angeles Classic.
The popular tournament attracts some of the world’s best players. Punters can not only bet on a player to win the tournament but back players ‘each way’ 1/6 the odds to make the final table of six. The market is non-runner, no bet.
The Irish bookies make Phil Ivey a 66/1 shot with familiar faces Daniel Negreanu at 80/1 and Phil Hellmuth at 100/1 following behind. PaddyPower’s Padraig Parkinson is available at 150/1 with Dave ‘Devilfish’ Ulliott the shortest English name at 125/1.
The event is held at the Commerce Casino - the largest cardroom in the world - from February 24th to March 1st, 2007.
Last year’s winner was Alan Goehring, bagging a healthy $2,391,550 first prize along with his second WPT title. Goehring reached the final table with the second shortest stack but his experience told in the end as he held on to take the honours.
