The paddypowerpoker.com $1 shootout will be held on Monday February 5, when one player will walk away with a €3,500 ticket to the 26th Irish Open, held in Dublin over Easter weekend 2007.
While the online tournament can accommodate 999 players, the two previous shootouts have fielded around 400 making this the ‘path of least resistance’ to the Irish Open.
The online poker room has announced a range of qualifiers to this year's main event. Firstly, players can win a Grand Final seat four times daily with a buy-in of $12 + $0.60 with rebuys. Alternatively players can buy-in directly to the Grand Final for $198+$9.90 every Sunday at 9pm. And of course there is the $1 Shootout Tournament held on the 1st Monday of every month.
Live satellites in card clubs and casinos around the world are set to be announced in the coming months.
This year’s Irish Open, which will be filmed for TV, is the biggest in Europe with a €2 million guaranteed prize pool and a capacity for 700 players paying €3,300 (+€200 reg) to play over Easter Weekend 2007 against the best players in the world.
Last year, Dubliner Vincent Melinn won the €350,000 first prize in only his second ever live tournament.
