Pacifico Heads Aspers Accumulator

Pacifico Heads Aspers Accumulator

Friday, 13 February 2015

November Niner James Akenhead, WPT Paris winner Surinder Sunar and last year's WPT Nottingham third place finisher Tamer Kamel were among the notable names on hand for the opening stages of the £100,000 WPT Aspers Accumulator event.

Of the high profile trio, pizza parlour philanthropist Kamel enjoyed the best of it, bagging up 55,900 with Sunar not far behind on 42,300. Poker pro turned bar owner Akenhead's luck was out but he'll have opportunties for another crack later today.

A total of 193 players took to the tables yesterday with 94 of them closing the day in credit. Leading the way was Lucio Pacifico (104,000) who was the only player to crack the six-figure barrier.

This being an accumulator, players who finished Thursday's action with chips can try and build an even bigger stack during today's two flights which start at 2pm and 8pm. Each player's stack will be combined when the day 2 action commences on Saturday.

Players can choose to play one, two or all three opening flights with the buy-in for each one £200.

Here are the leaders after the first day 1:

1 Lucio Pacifico 104,000
2 Vasile Stancu 93,700
3 Erion Tota 92,000
4 Laurence Essa 81,200
5 Jeraint Hazan 78,800
