Wednesday, 15 July 2009

The petition created by the PPA (Poker Players' Alliance) to tax and regulate online gambling instead of completely banning it, today proudly boasted a milestone figure hit. The online petition now stands at 300,428 names.

The petition is addressed specifically to President Barack Obama and asks him to:

1) Exempt poker from the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA)

2) License and regulate internet poker in the U.S.

3) Respect the rights of law-abiding Americans who love to play this great game of skill.

The petition is available online for anyone and everyone to sign, so long as they provide a few basic details - name, address, etc.

The document you sign starts saying: I am a voter and a fellow poker player asking for your support of my right to play games of skill like poker on the internet.” Later on the petition will be presented to President Barack Obama.
