Children’s charity One To One is better off to the tune of £100,000 after Sunday’s Omar Sharif One To One Poker Tournament in association with PKR.com.
London’s swanky Sketch restaurant included actors Douglas Henshall from Primeval and Mistresses star Patrick Baladi, Radio 1 DJ and Fighting Talk host Colin Murray and comedians Hardeep Singh Kohli, Norman Pace and Richard Herring. Pros in attendance included Donnacha O’Dea, Roland de Wolfe, Team PKR member Ashley Hames and the 2009 Irish Open runner up Kara Scott.Buy in for the evening was £365, enough to cover the cost of sponsoring a child for a year at £1 a day. The poker event was won by former World Women’s Open Champion Beverley Pace with actors Michael Greco second and Dexter Fletcher third.The £100,000 raised at the event will enable One To One to continue their work with 1,000 children and their families suffering from HIV/AIDS in Africa. One To One also has projects in Israel where it works to bring together Druse, Bedouin, Christian, Muslim and Jewish children.
