There’s a school of thought that says playing poker online just doesn’t cut it when compared to the real thing of sitting round the table and trying to read body language, checking out the hot girl opposite and attempting to play cards at the same time. However, it looks like everything is about to change with the emergence of pkr.com.
There’s been plenty of bluster about new software making online gaming more realistic, but it’s pretty much guaranteed that this will blow everything else out of the water. Based on the most up-to-date video game graphics, pkr is essentially a 3D version of poker where you can develop your own character, right down to hair styles, jewellery and clothes, as well as being able to read other players tells and check out their emotions. The more you play, the more options you get to personalise your character and become a complete online entity rather than just a username with a few enemies on a random forum.
It’s available as a free download from www.pkr.com and is set to launch fully in North America this month. If this fails to change online gaming, there will be a lot of surprised faces.
