PKR Announce Televised Heads-Up Grand Slam

Monday, 7 September 2009

PKR, in association with Matchroom Sport, are delighted to announce their inaugural Heads-Up Grand Slam – the first ever televised tournament from the 3D poker site. The event will take place in London this October and pitch 32 of the world’s best players against one another for a $100,000 first-place prize.

Eddie Hearn, Managing Director of Matchroom Sport said, “We have been looking at creating a heads-up event for a while now and I’m excited that we have the formula just right. Shows such as the NBC Heads-Up Championship have attracted huge ratings and we expect this event to continue that trend. There will be a plethora of poker talent gathering in London in October and the names that have already committed look to provide a breathtaking line up.”

Tom “Durrrr” Dwan, Luke “Full Flush” Schwartz, Annette Obrestad, Yevgeniy Timoshenko, Vicky Coren, Nam Le, Sammy “Any Two” George, Roland de Wolfe, JC Tran, Andrew Feldman and Roberto Romanello are all confirmed to be attending. Already we’re picturing some juicy match-ups – durrrr vs __FullFlush1__ in the live arena would be something to see.

Simon Prodger, Marketing Director of PKR.com said, “We are excited to work with Matchroom Sport and put Heads-Up poker on the European TV map. The line up is already one of the strongest fields ever seen in the UK and we are offering a unique opportunity for PKR qualifiers to test themselves against the world’s best players.”
