Owen “ocrowe” Crowe wins PokerStars Sunday Warm-Up.

Owen Crowe has flown somewhat under the radar as poker tournament stars go – for the past three years he has made a final table at a WSOP preliminary event and accumulated over $1.7m in cashes since his first live cash in April 2005. This despite no major victories and a biggest single score of a little over $300,000.

However, no one doubts the man can play and they doubt it less after this weekend – Sunday saw Crowe triumph over 3,241 players in the weekly PokerStars Sunday Warm-Up, turning his $215 investment into a payday of more than $100,000.
He defeated Lebanese player “assalbi” to take the title, winning a huge pot when dealt A-Q versus A-J before putting pressure on his opponent’s shortstack and then sucking out with 9-6 against Q-9, flopping two pair to end the tournament.
Crowe’s success in the live arena is most notable at the WSOP. In 2009, he finished 5th in a $1,500 WSOP event for $145k; in 2010 he was runner-up to Shawn Busse in a $1,000 NL event for which he earned over $300k; just this year he made a stunning third consecutive final table in big NL events by taking 4th in a $1,500 NL preliminary for $190k.
That combined with Sunday’s win proves one thing – this guy knows how to play big field NL tournaments. Here’s hoping he can close out a WSOP event and grab a bracelet next year.
