Ostensson leads WPT Grand Prix de Paris with 25 left

A short day of poker in Paris reduced the remaining 48 players in the Grand Prix de Paris €10,000 event to 25; inside the money and ready to play down to a final table today.

Unfortunately for the British contingent Stuart Rutter was the bubble boy, exiting after a clash with the end-of-day chip leader Jimmy Ostensson.

Ostensson built up a lot of his 719,000 stack by eliminating Aussie Millions champion Tyron Krost with the nut flush over top set. Rutter’s 99 couldn’t outdo Ostensson’s Ac-5c when three clubs hit the flop.

Arnaud Mattern, Day 1a chip leader Fabrice Tuil, French super star Patrick Bruel, Steven van Zadelhoff, and Andrew Teng are all still in the hunt for the final table and the first place prize of €633,000.

The leading chip counts are as follows:

1 Jimmy Ostensson 719,000
2 Michael Kwiek 570,000
3 Theo Jorgensen 564,500
4 Fabrice Thuil 555,500
5 Arnaud Mattern 451,500
6 Antoine Amourette 450,000
