Online Qualifiers Live the Dream

Online Qualifiers Live the Dream

Tuesday, 4 November 2014

Two lucky online qualifiers have been living the Caribbean dream this week after securing packages to the CPT event in beautiful St Maarten.

Brian Kulp and Simon Beauregard, who booked their seats after winning satellites at Juicy Stakes and Intertops Poker, have been keeping followers up to date with all the action both on and off the felt courtesy of a new blog.

Sadly there was no fairytale finish for the pair in the $1,100 Main Event which was eventually won by Frenchman Christophe Marcault who pipped Will Failla to the $41,000 first prize.

Despite busting out well short of the money, Kulp is certainly enjoying his trip to the Caribbean, describing the tournament as “really a fun experience.” There's a very nice silver lining to enjoy because of the early exit. “Now i'm left with a lot of time on my hand to enjoy the wonderful island and resort!”

Beauregard enjoyed a deeper run in the tournament, which also featured the likes of Anthony Zinno, Jonathan Roy, Pieter de Korver and Barry Shulman. The Canadian qualifier successfully navigated how way through a tricky opening day field. His basic strategy was “to play pots in position so I can build them up when I have hands that can win a showdown. I don't see the need in getting out of control stealing pots when the blinds are small.”

The Quebec native fell short on day two though, and wasn't able to make the final table and grab himself a share of the $141,000 prize pool.

The final table positions and payouts were as follows:

1 Christophe Marcault France $41,000
2 Will Failla USA $24,000
3 Christophe Rosso France $16,100
4 Dan Murariu Romania $13,100
5 Sabina Hiatullah Germany $10,200
6 Bob Bounahra Belize $8,100
7 Cedric Adam France $6,600
8 Yannick Gauthier Canada $5,200
9 Peter Hajszan Austria $3,800
