An online qualifier from Blue Square Poker has beaten a strong field of seasoned professionals to take down the 2nd leg of the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour (GUKPT) in Walsall.
In the end it was two online qualifiers battling it out for the 1st prize of a seat in the Grand Final, a designer watch and a cool £121,600. Billy Ngo, a 28-year old IT specialist from Manchester was pipped to the prize by Jerome Bradpiece. The heads-up contest lasted a mere three hands when Jerome’s AQ held up over Billy’s A8.
This was the biggest £1,000 no limit event ever to be held in the UK with 360 runners and a total prize pool of £360,000. Billy Ngo who qualified via a $27 satellite rushed off immediately after finishing the tournament, despite winning almost £60,000, to make sure that he was in work by 9am.
Richard Bloch, GUKPT PR Manager commented: 'Jerome was a thoroughly deserving winner of our second leg of the GUKPT tour in Walsall. He now has the enviable title of being a GUKPT winner at the largest no limit Hold’em poker event to be held in the UK. We look forward to him defending his title in Cardiff next month.'
