Annette Obrestad, the 19 year-old Norwegian pro, has added yet more awards both at home and at the Scandinavian Poker Awards in Copenhagen. In the only awards given out in her native country, Annette picked up three awards known as the Gullhanda, or ‘Golden Hands’, followed swiftly by news of a brace of awards at the Scandinavian Poker Awards in Denmark.
In the year which heralded the arrival of Obrestad, she won the Main Event of the World Series of Poker Europe, netting £1m for first place as well as securing a sponsorship deal with Betfair.
The win at the WSOPE secured her the award for the Best Performance of the Year at the Scandies and also gave her the title of Best Female Player.
For the Gullhanda, she beat Trond Erik Eidsvig in a heads-up clash after being nominated via an online poll. Previous winners of the award include the two-time WSOP bracelet winner, Thor Hansen.
The awards this week add to her success back in December when she was made the youngest-ever winner at the European Poker Awards after collecting the Tournament Performance of the Year.
