Tuesday, 23 June 2009

94 players sat down at the Gala Casino in Leeds for the latest leg of the Coral sponsored British Masters Poker Tour. After two long days it was Tom MacDonald who emerged victorious taking the title and with it a first prize of £14,300.

MacDonald outlasted a final table including Eddie Lundon (who had made the final table in the opening leg of the tour), Gez Hilton and Jamie Coonan before seeing off fellow young gun Jamie Sykes heads up.

The chips went in with Sykes holding Jd10c and MacDonald Kh2s on a 3h4hJhKs board. The river brought the 10h giving Sykes two pair but MacDonald a flush and with it the title.

The final table positions and payouts were as follows:

1 Tom MacDonald £14,300
2 Jamie Sykes £10,000
3 Jamie Coonan £7,000
4 Eddie Lundon £5,000
5 Gez Hilton £3,350
6 Steve Wills £2,250
7 Danny Hook £1,700
8 Simon Mairs £1,300
9 Alan McLean £1,100

The tour now heads to the Gala Casino in Stockton-on-Tees from 24th to 26th July with further stops in Nottingham, Liverpool and Bristol later in the year.
