The name of Karl Hevroy can be added to the growing list of successful Norwegian players after he claimed the PokerStars LAPT event in Uruguay.

20 year old Karl Evroy beat a field of 327 to claim the LAPT Punta del Este event at the Mantra Resort Spa Casino in Uruguay over the weekend. The young Norwegian claimed a first prize of $283,500 in the $3,500 buy in event.

A delighted Helvoy said "I'm so happy, I don't feel like I know anything. It's so sick... I had a few moments where I was in danger, and then I luckboxed my way out of it.”

Three handed his A-10 outdrew Angel Guillen’s A-J to give him a 6-1 chip lead heading into heads up play. The heads up lasted just one hand with all the chips going in with Helvoy holding 9s full of 8s to leave local player Alejandro De Arruabarrena drawing dead.

The event saw the first million dollar prize pool for an event in South America.

The next stop for the tour will be Mar del Plata in Argentina from 14th to 15th April.
