No Daniel Negreanu for High Stakes Poker Season 7

No Daniel Negreanu for High Stakes Poker Season 7

Thursday, 16 December 2010

We were worried enough about the High Stakes Poker line-up for season seven with the news that Full Tilt Pros may not appear on the next taping.

Now Daniel Negreanu, a staple figure on the televised high stakes cash game since the very beginning, has confirmed that he will not appear on the next season, due to be taped next week at the Bellagio.

Negreanu said on his @RealKidPoker Twitter that he had commitments to film a commercial that prevented him from taking on the world’s best at the highest stakes on television. This will be the first series of the long-running GSN poker show to not feature Negreanu. Even his late mother has made an appearance at the nosebleed stakes game. She wasn’t playing, though.

So that means it is possible that the line-up could be very sparse indeed. Though we must wonder what Negreanu has to film that is so important that he, the most famous PokerStars Pro and poker ambassador, cannot appear on a PokerStars-sponsored and highly rated poker show. If the Full Tilt crew bow out too then Kara Scott will have difficulties interviewing the empty table – though we’d still happily watch an hour of Gabe Kaplan’s commentary.

The seventh season of the PokerStars sponsored GSN show High Stakes Poker is being taped within the week and will be released in early 2011 with twelve episodes of high stakes cash game poker action.
