Now that the PokerStars Spring Championship of Online Poker has concluded as the largest online tournament series ever, with more than $65 million awarded over the 120 events, it was Nick “GripDsNutz” Grippo who took home the largest prize in the largest event.

The $10,300 Main Event attracted a field of 517 players, with many notable names taking part and cashing including Daniel “w00ki3z” Cates, Jonathan “FatalError” Aguiar, Sorel “zangbezan24” Mizzi, Ben “NeverScaredB” Wilinofsky, Mickey “mement_mori” Petersen and Andre Akkari.

GripDsNutz was third heading into the final table but built up his stack over the course of play, eventually demanding an even chop three-handed. Eventually each player settled on a deal that would see them guaranteed $718,675 before they played for the title.

The final hand saw GripDsNutz, with a chip lead of 5-1, call a 4-bet shove holding 66 and facing A3. A ten-high board provided little sweat and Grippo had sealed the SCOOP watch.

The regular tournament action continues at PokerStars. New depositors can bag a bonus of up to £400. Sign up here.
