Nicholas Todd's 25/25 Triumph

Nicholas Todd's 25/25 Triumph

Wednesday, 13 May 2015

It's been a pretty special few days in the poker careers of Nicholas Todd and Anthony Haughey. The pair finished fifth and third respectively in last week's Grosvenor 25/25 event in Leeds, picking up career-best scores of £4,000 and £5,500.

Both no doubt went into this weekend's 25/25 leg in Blackpool full of confidence but surely they can't have expected the one-two finish that followed. Todd collected £10,520 and Haughey £10,000 after topping another guarantee-busting event at the Lancashire resort's Sandcastle Casino.

Though Todd took the trophy the biggest payout went to Andrew Duffy after the final trio agreed a three-way chop. They played on for an extra £2,520 and the trophy with Todd taking the honours. The final hand was something of a cooler with the chips hitting the middle on a Q335 board. Haughey tabled K-Q but his top-pair was was behind Todd's 6-3. The king on the river was no help to Haughey and gave Todd his second career-best score in the space of a week.
