The Global Poker Index, which ranks the weekly performance of 300 of the world's top live tournament players, is under new ownership after Pinnacle Entertainment sold the patent pending system to Zokay Entertainment.

Former Chili Gaming chief Alex Dreyfus is the head of Zokay Entertainment and has grand plans for GPI including national and regional rankings, an awards ceremony and a new GPI VIP club.

“The GPI is the best poker ranking system in the world, and we plan to make it even better,” said Dreyfus, “A ranking system of this calibre is needed in the poker industry to bring it in line with other competitive contests of skill and sports industries. The GPI provides a ranking system on par with those you would find in golf or tennis.”

Jason Mercier currently heads the rankings followed by Bertrand 'ElkY' Grospellier, Dan Smith, Stephen O'Dwyer and Erik Seidel. Chris Moorman is the top Brit on the list in 28th followed by Toby Lewis in 40th and $10m man Sam Trickett in 47th.
