New online gaming regulation in Germany

New online gaming regulation in Germany

Friday, 16 December 2011

Regulated online poker could be a step closer in Germany after 15 of the country's 16 states approved new legislation that allows for the creation of up to 20 sports betting licences.

The only state not to sign the agreement is Schleswig Holstein which has already passed its own online gaming legislation.

The wider German law needs approval from the European Commission and is likely to face strong opposition from online poker providers who consider it restrictive.
