Sweden’s Government-run gambling monopoly Svenska Spel has announced that it has signed a deal to provide online poker facilities to an unidentified ‘State-controlled member of the World Lottery Association’.
Svenska Spel stated that it would collaborate with Swedish gambling software provider Boss Media to assist the unknown company, which follows the Swedish Government monopoly model and allows State-controlled online poker for its citizens.
“This is a great acknowledgement of our Internet poker,” said Jesper Karrbrink, Chief Executive Officer for Svenska Spel.
Boss Media will deliver and operate the technical gaming platform with Svenska Spel’s solutions for gaming, security and supervision integrated into the gaming platform with a delivery expected early next year.
“It is satisfying that we will deliver our products to yet another WLA-member,” said Markus Holm, Executive Vice-President and Head of Business Development for Boss Media.
“We are particularly content over the cooperation with Svenska Spel who has helped us develop the tools for responsible gaming, which will be a fundamental part in the gaming companies’ interactive gaming offers in the future.”
The two companies are to be rewarded with a portion of the rake from the new site, which many speculate could be Austrian as the State-owned gambling monopoly there could benefit from an online poker offering with development costs contained by cooperation.
The new operator will also have the right to use Svenska Spel’s responsible gaming tool Play Scan, which predicts and warns a player when they are beginning to manifest unsound gaming behaviour.
