New Player Wins Nearly $30,000 in First Ever Online Tournament

Thursday, 14 August 2008

Reimer Koester, a player from Germany, has demonstrated just how useful a spot of so-called ‘beginners luck’ can be by claiming second place and $27,500 in the $250,000 Guaranteed Prize tournament on Titan Poker. Koester had signed up at Titan Poker just four days before the event.

Having used the site a little, he opted for the weekly $250,000 guaranteed to be his first online tournament - and astounded everybody when he finished second place and won $27,500. The Titan Poker newcomer competed against nearly 2,000 players in this tournament for seven and a half hours, and was even leading with 4h-Kd as it got to the last hand. Unfortunately for Reimer, an unlucky turn on the flop ensured a pair of sixes and victory for a rival player and second place for him.

However, he wasn’t too despondent at only finishing second:"I'm very happy that I did well in my very first tournament at Titan Poker. The tournament went smoothly and was a lot of fun - from the very start I managed to play well. Next time I'll try for first place!!"

There's no pleasing some people, is there...
