Always known as one of Europe’s fiercest cash game players, Neil Channing recently cracked the tournament scene with his €800,000 win at the PaddyPower.com Irish Open. Not only did it net Channing his first major tournament success, but it’s also put him top of the PokerinEurope standings.
The award is based on the finishing position, number of entrants and the buy-in for the ranked events. Neil not only won the biggest tournament on the rankings list so far this year, but ‘Bad Beat’ also managed a second place finish at a recent GUKPT tournament, adding more points onto his tally. The run follows on from a great showing at the WSOP Main Event in 2007, and if things keep going the way they have been recently, you’d be a fool to bet against him being top dog at the end of the year.
