Negreanu takes down WPT charity event

The World Poker Tour launched its charitable WPT Foundation over the weekend with a host of top names from the worlds of poker, sport and entertainment taking part in the WPT Playing for a Better World charity event.

Daniel Negreanu took the honours in the invitation only tournament, defeating a line up that included the likes of Barry Greenstein, Liv Boeree, Vanessas Selbst and Rousso and Mario Ho.

It wasn't a completely enjoyable night for Kid Poker though who tweeted later that evening, “Wow. Just had random stalker thrown out of a bar in LA. I'm SOAKED right now after she launched a drink in my face #goodtimes”. We'll no doubt hear more in Negreanu's latest video blog.

The WPT Foundation will be hosting more charity events throughout the year and with the committee that includes Don Cheadle, Gerard Butler, Will Ferrell, Woody Harrelson, Evan Longoria and Andrea Savage, there should be a fair sprinkling of celebrity backing.

“As the premier name in internationally televised gaming and entertainment, World Poker Tour is dedicated to using our extensive reach to affect positive change,” said Steve Heller, WPT CEO. “The launch of WPT Foundation at the beautiful SLS Hotel was a night to remember thanks to support of attending celebrities, the poker community and our fantastic charity partners and we look forward to many further fundraising events in the near future.”
