It’s every ardent player’s dream to be personally tutored by a poker pro as famous and well-respected as Daniel Negreanu. That dream became reality for the US player who won a televised tourney last Saturday, December 9.
Hailing from Ontario, Anthony Mak won the Daniel Negreanu's Protégé promotion awarded by Full Contact Poker at the glitzy Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas.
'I didn't expect to win at all,' Mak said after his big win. 'The feeling still hasn't sunk in. Maybe in a couple of days.'
Mak, 23, becomes Negreanu's protégé for the next several months. The prize includes four $10,000 entries into major tournaments and exclusive access to Negreanu himself for tips and tricks. Mak won his seat into the single-table tournament through an online qualifier that took place on November 9.
Negreanu' first protégé, Brian Fidler, won in excess of a life-altering $200,000 after finishing second in a World Series of Poker event this year. The entry was paid for by Full Contact Poker as part of the prize package, and Fidler named Negreanu as having helped him to his victory.
