Negreanu Wants a Piece of Vegas NHL

Daniel Negreanu recently reconfirmed his interest in purchasing a piece of any new NHL ice hockey team that's formed in Las Vegas.

Talking to the Toronto Sun earlier this week, Negreanu explained that he feels the chances of Vegas getting an NHL team are 99.9%, despite the league not giving much away in terms of its plans.

Stating that Sin City already has an owner, a stadium under construction and more than 13,000 people chomping at the bit to own a season ticket, Negreanu is hopeful a positive decision will be made in the near future.

"Vegas has 2.2 million people. It's a sports town. We've been starving for a professional franchise of any kind for many years," said Negreanu.

If and when this happens, the poker pro, who is a lifelong hockey fan, will be ready and waiting to buy a piece of the franchise.

"The idea of owning a piece of an NHL team is the coolest thing eve," Negreanu chirped.

To-date, Negreanu has $30 million+ in live tournament earnings which means he's got more than enough cash to fund a foray into the world of NHL. Not only that, but with a wealth of knowledge of the sport and an impressive profile both in Vegas and beyond, Negreanu's involvement with any team would be a good news for everyone involved.

As well as wanting to buy a piece of a new team, Negreanu also said he'd enjoy presenting a hockey show in Vegas which suggests he may already be planning for his future after he's made his last fold at the poker table.
