Negreanu Responds to PokerStars' Rake Changes

Monday, 3 November 2014

Following a raft of changes that have angered some of the online community, PokerStars Pro, Daniel Negreanu, has offered his take on the situation.

Writing in his blog on Full Contact Poker, Negreanu began his post by clearing up some misconceptions about the latest changes; namely that many of the changes had been planned before Amaya even took over.

On top of pointing out that Amaya wasn't behind some of the recent alterations, Negreanu also reminded the community that "PokerStars remains the cheapest place to play" regardless of its rake increases. In an effort to bolster his point, Kid Poker referenced the rake increases made by the WSOP a few years ago.

At the time a number of players complained that the games would become unbeatable after the changes, but since that time the festival has grown in size and broken several records.

Essentially, as Negreanu states in his blog, it's "business as usual" at PokerStars. Finding ways to adjust to the changing poker climate and attract new customers was the company's aim before Amaya took over and it seems as though that's the strategy that will continue for the foreseeable future.
