If you’re one of those people that take out the TV guide a week in advance, circling all the shows that must to be watched in the coming days, then have your red pen handy for Monday April 16 when the return of the National Heads Up Poker Championship airs at noon on Channel 4. A ratings winner last year, this year’s contest will be broadcast over six week and will follow 64 of the best players in the world battle it out head-to-head.
Participants this year include Jennifer Tilley, who seems to have completely eschewed a Hollywood career for the glamour of touring poker tournaments, last year’s winner Phil Hellmuth, comically described by Newsday as the John McEnroe of poker and of course, Doyle Brunson to make things look respectable.
Although we already know who won, we don’t want to spoil the fun so we will leave you with this clue: The winner had God on his side…
