The National Poker League (NPL) 2007 Global Circuit Tour kicks off with The Paris Open in France on 13 May at the Cercle Gaillon. While other poker events in France are announcing their withdrawal from the marketplace, the NPL organisers are hoping that the event will become the Europe’s premier poker tour stop.
Since the NPL is a poker league and is not affiliated with an online gaming partner, the French Government and media have embraced the Paris Open. “Players can be assured that this event will make European history, with an estimated prize pool of €3,500,000,” said a NPL spokesman
The inaugural NPL tour stop for 2007 will be televised around the world, reaching over 500 million households. In the home country of the event, France's TF1, Jet Sports, Eurosport and TV Monte Carlo have all signed on to broadcast the six one-hour episodes that the NPL will produce.
The NPL Paris Open tourney itself features multiple €4,000 plus 200 buy-in events from May 13 to 22, culminating with the final table comprised of the previous event winners on the last day.
The tournament series will feature €100,000 in added money. In addition to France's best, NPL is expecting a good mix of British, American, Spanish, Moroccan, Asian and Eastern European players.
