NBC Heads-Up Championship will not return for 2012

Friday, 14 October 2011

NBC has confirmed that the National Heads-Up Poker Championship will not be returning to television in 2012, meaning that Erik Seidel can hold on to his title for at least another year. He runs good.

NBC Sports Senior Director of Communications Adam Freifeld said that the network would “continue to evaluate our poker programming” in the future, but while that leaves it open for a possible return of the NBCNHUPC, it will be gone for at least 2012.

The NBC National Heads-Up Poker Championships was the made-for-TV poker tournament, pitting together 64 of the best players in the world (OK, including some qualifiers) in a televised heads-up showdown. Previous winners include Phil Hellmuth, Huck Seed, Annie Duke and Erik Seidel.
