Mosseri heads $50k Players' Championship

Wednesday, 25 June 2014

Abe Mosseri is way out in front as the WSOP $50k Players' Championship bubble approaches. The New Yorker bagged up a massive stack of 1,727,000 at the close of day three, almost 600,000 in front of closest rival Brandon Shack-Harris who'll return with 1,185,000.

Matt Glantz (1,083,000), Robert Mizrachi (1,020,000) and Frank Kassela (1,004,000) were the only other players to crack the seven-figure barrier during a day that saw the field whittled down from 55 to just 22.

Other still chasing the $1.5m plus payday included Scott Seiver (886,000), Jonathan Duhamel (747,000), Todd Brunson (585,000) and start of day leader Jason Mercier (375,000).

British hopes rest with Londoner Elior Sion who'll return this evening with 800,000 in seventh place.

Richard 'Chufty' Ashby, ElkY, Doyle Brunson and Phil Ivey were amongst the notables to hit the rail overnight.

The action resumes at 2pm local time, where the field will play down to a final table. There will be eight very disappointed players come closing time with only 14 players making the money. The min-cash stands just short of $100,000.
